About me

Caroline Mackay

Since graduating from the University of Canberra, I’ve spent time honing my design skills working in full-time and freelance roles across Australia, the UK and the Netherlands.

These days I’m enjoying the beach lifestyle in Wollongong, where I work as a freelancer to deliver clients marketing and advertising materials with a clean and considered design approach. I focus on print and editorial design – think magazines, e-books, brochures, reports etc. – if it’s chunky, I want it! I maintain great relationships with clients by always delivering quality work and through offering advice and consultation on the best design solution for each specific project—no cookie cutters here.

In my spare time I enjoy the usual personal bio clichés like drinking coffee as well as making raw treats and overdosing on podcasts.

When did design become so… design-y? In a bid to stand out among all the noise of modern environment, it’s easy to assume you need to say more, add more, design more.

But the “less is more” approach is still as relevant as ever and I’m a firm believer that drilling down on what you actually want to say and delivering properly and clearly on that – nothing more, nothing less – should always be the end goal.

Removing the noise means your message cuts through and design should be the medium which helps deliver this message, as opposed to being a distraction from it.

Remaining a recognised and trusted brand through the design you put out to the world is simple – be consistent with your brand (with a little bit flexibility for creativity, of course) and deliver quality design that is a visual joy for people to consume.

What exactly are we doing here? Do you need just an e-book or is that e-book actually a lead magnet to get signups to your email newsletter? Whether you know it or not, you have a problem that needs a solution. Let’s find out what that problem is.


Tell me everything!

Here’s when I find out what I need to know about you. I’ll try to get a good idea of who you are, what you or your company does, and what you want to achieve with the project. I’ll also familiarise myself with your brand (or *gasp* lack thereof) and see how we can best utilise it for the project.


The work

I’ll wave my magical designer wand and create a bespoke solution for you. We’ll work back and forth together until it’s just right. If it’s a big project we’ll take it step-by-step to make sure we’re on the same page (no pun intended) the whole way through.



Time to share with the world! At this stage I’ll bid you farewell (until next time!) and deliver your final files. Depending on your needs, I can provide files for professional printing and/or web and online use.
